A new maintenance hangar in Ho Chi Minh City.

03/06/2010

Holmes Consulting Group, in conjunction with Aircraft Support Industries Pty (ASI) is working on an aircraft maintenance hangar in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. ASI's contract is with Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (LILAMA), a state-owned company contracted for the project by Vietnam Airlines.

The heavy maintenance hangar, which features a stressed arch design, will total 6,500 sqm and a clear height of 28m or the equivalent of 8 building storeys.

It requires capacity to both house and carry cranes and docks from the ceiling.

Graham Voysey, a specialist in this type of project, says "This represents an exciting new innovation by including suspended docks and cranes in a stressed arch environment."

This long-planned project will expand the capacity of Vietnam Airlines to maintain their own and others' aircraft locally.

CPG Viet Nam Co Ltd., formerly known as Duffill Watts, is also a partner on the project.
