Affco - Horotiu

AFFCO decided to upgrade their Horotiu plant to achieve greater efficiencies and keep ahead of the processing requirements and regulations.  This required the demolition and rebuild of their beef processing floors, boning rooms and associated offal areas. In addition, the project included new amenities, a canteen and a laundry for the staff, and links from each of the new buildings to the existing structures.

We provided civil, structural and architectural design services, coordination with plant suppliers and project management of the building construction.

Apart from complying with the rules in the NZ Building Code, we needed to incorporate the requirements of the New Zealand food safety regulations, the USDA, and the European Union. Further, the plant was built with the proper orientation so that it is Halal compliant.
