Aviation

Our expertise in the aviation sector began with Christchurch Airport - it was our founder's first major commission. Since then, we've grown along with the aviation industry, especially our expertise in very large aircraft hangars.

Recently, we've worked on the Control Tower at Christchurch Airport, and the ADAT hangar in Abu Dhabi. We are leaders in the design of hangars that will accommodate multiple planes, including the new A380.

This expertise translates into other disciplines as well - look for our projects in stadia for more on how we design large, column-free spaces.

  • ADAT Hangar, Abu Dhabi: The ADAT hangar features suspended docking and other essential lifting equipment.
  • Auckland Airport: Normal operations continued during the construction phase of the international terminal.
  • Christchurch Air Traffic Control Tower: The horizontal precast panels allowed the structure to be as the architect envisioned.
  • Lyall Holmes' first major commission was the Christchurch Airport, designed by Paul Pascoe - who slept on the site to ensure the orientation of the airport would be perfect.
  • The Qantas hangar in Brisbane - capable of servicing two A380 aircraft simultaneously.
