Centra Auckland Hotel Extensions

The original 250 room Centra Hotel was opened in 1989. In 1997 it was a very successful hotel with an occupancy rate of around 90%. Faced with hosting such events as the Americas cup and the APEC conference, the owners were keen to expand. Rather than expand the exsisting 28 storey tower vertically, Holmes explored the idea of extending across the adjacent 16 storey carpark structure. This alleviated the need to extend lifts, and the hotel continued to trade almost undisturbed.
