Deloitte Centre
The Deloitte Centre occupies a full central city block in downtown Auckland. Prior to construction the land was occupied by the historic Jean Batten Building and the façade and portions of the upper floors of this building were retained and integrated into the new building.
During the design process the developers decided that they wanted the building to achieve a five-star Green Star rating. The Deloitte Centre became the first high rise office building in New Zealand to achieve a five star rating under the New Zealand Green Building Council guidelines.
The building features a large cantilevered entrance canopy along Queen Street and a 'Sky Catcher' roof feature, which has already distinguished the building.
The building itself is 20 storeys with a four-level underground basement built into reclaimed land at the location of Auckland's original foreshore. The ground floor contains high end retail shops.
The New Zealand Green Building Council has done a case study on the Centre - (pdf 540KB).
Our friends at Brookfield Multiplex have created a time-lapse film of the construction of the Deloitte Centre below. Note as the crane climbs up the elevator shaft as each level is completed.
