Education

Holmes Consulting Group has worked with the education sector for a long time - and in that time we've come to appreciate the needs of the local authority, the Department of Education, the students and staff and the general public. The projects featured above are examples of different types of educational buildings. The most recent, Albany Senior High School, is innovative in its open-plan approach to education.

Other areas in which we have designed schools include: Karori, Dilworth, Stokes Valley, Upper Hutt, New Plymouth, Silverdale.

  • Albany Senior High School: The open space allows for flexibity in class sizes and offers informal spaces.
  • Landscape Architecture School: An interesting feature of the building is the curved roof following the form of a tapered cone yet constructed in structural steel.
  • Te Totara School: Each cluster is home to 4 classroom spaces with each opening to a recreational/educational space in the centre of the cluster, enabling students and teachers to interact more openly.
  • This is part of the Sciences West Precinct of the University of Canterbury.
  • Albany Senior High School: The school opened on time. The students may not have been thrilled, but their parents were.
