Holiday Inn - Wellington

Holiday Inn was the first, purpose built, internationally branded hotel to be constructed in Wellington for more than a decade.  Located near the waterfront in proximity to Parliament Buildings, this 19 level, 198 room structure includes two parking levels, a conference facility, business centre, pool, sauna and spa.  

Built on reclaimed land, it required up to 1.5 meter diameter by 20 meter deep piled foundations to support over 800 tonnes of structural steel, a concrete shear wall, cantilevered sawtooth floor plate and precast concrete façade cladding.

High quality, pre-fabricated bathroom units were shipped by sea to site, craned into position and incorporated as the hotel was being built. The careful coordination between off-site on-site processes allowed for a rapid construction programme and a high degree of architectural finish.

The property won a Property Council New Zealand Merit Award for Tourism & Leisure and an NZIA award in Wellington.
