Mission Estate Winery

The Mission Estate restaurant, retail facilities and offices were remodelled to not only bring a new dimension to the brand, but also to ensure the continued survival of these historic buildings.

Buildings that were no longer used were demolished and the main building entrance was reversed to a new entrance with a fountain. The project required faithful renovation and seismic strengthening to bring the structures in line with present day requirements. The original homestead, church and library were renovated and a large underground wine cellar was constructed with access from the main building.

The road and carpark civil works included a new bridge, extensive earthworks and retaining walls for the cellar. All new construction had to be performed with the utmost care and to a very tight schedule, as damage could ensue from the works. The Mission Estate remained open to the public throughout construction.
