New Zealand Parliament
Buildings Seismic Refurbishment
One of
New Zealand's most well known landmark buildings has undergone
a complete seismic refurbishment. New Zealand Parliament Buildings
are located approximately 400 meters from one of the regions
major fault lines. Originally built in the 1900's the buildings
are still the home of the debating chamber, parliamentary library
and offices of the country's Government. Over 400 base isolation
rubber bearings allow the building to move horizontally up to
385mm in an earthquake. |
