Te Totara School

Located in North Hamilton, the school was a greenfield project requiring not only design for the buildings, but also civil works. The project won a local New Zealand Institute of Architects award in 2009.

The design consists of four classroom clusters, and administration block, a gym and a library. Each cluster is home to 4 classroom spaces with each opening to a recreational/educational space in the centre of the cluster, enabling students and teachers to interact more openly.

The stunning, state of the art school enrolled only 58 students at its opening in February 2008, but that number is expected to grow to 650 in the coming years.
